The Frederick Center will present the “2018 Ally of the Year Award” at a special event held on Thursday, June 21 from 5-7 at the outdoor labyrinth at Trinity Chapel in downtown Frederick. The Frederick Center, the non-profit LGBTQ resource organization, bestows the award to individuals and entities that support Frederick County’s LGBTQ community.
Kris Fair, chair, board of directors, The Frederick Center, said that two recipients will be honored this year. “We are also pleased to recognize the Frederick County Public Schools Board of Education for its national leadership in the adoption of policy 443, which affirms the rights and protections of transgender students in the school system, as well as Di Creedon, whose generous contributions exemplify what it means to be an ally of the LGBTQ community.”
The event is being held in the newly renovated labyrinth in back of Trinity Chapel, located at 10 West Church St. The presentation of awards will take place at 6pm. Refreshments will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved across the street to the Community Center of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ (ERUCC) at 15 W. Church St.
The awards presentation is made possible through the generosity of PNC Bank with additional support from the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ and Tobacco Free Frederick – Frederick County Health Department. For more information, visit: thefrederickcenter.org
