The Frederick Center, Frederick County Health Department and Frederick Regional Health System have created a LGBTQ+ Health Equity Task Force to help improve the county’s medical practices in treating those in the LGBTQ+ community.
The first task of the new group will be to help practices ask for sexual orientation and gender identity information, including pronouns, so that it is captured in electronic medical records, according to a press release from The Frederick Center. Currently, 11 percent of practices ask for the information, and the group’s goal is to have 50 percent.
Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, the county’s health officer, said she encourages local providers to join the task force.
A working lunch on electronic medical records and sexual orientation and gender identity will take place July 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Those interested in participating can contact The Frederick Center at [email protected].
